Position: Perennials Sales Area Team Member
Department: Garden Center Perennials
Reports to: Perennial Team Lead
The Perennial Salea Area Team Member is responsible for assisting the Perennial Team Lead (PTL) with the daily operations of the perennial sales area ensuring the area remains fully stocked, easy to shop and beautifully maintained.
Maintains a presence in the perennial sales are to greet and assist customers with perennial plant purchases as well as add-on sales of related products. When appropriate, assist with purchases in other areas of the Garden Center and interact with other sales departments to provide friendly and knowledgeable customer service to Weston Nurseries retail customers.
Works with the PTL to unload incoming plant shipments, following receiving procedures, and assists in creating an inspiring sales area. Helps with plant placement and tagging. Helps ensure plant health through deadheading, pruning, monitoring for pests/diseases and watering. Removes all plant material from sales area that does not meet our high-quality standards. Maintains a high standard of cleanliness daily.
Skills and Qualifications:
- A can-do attitude, ability to follow directions and excellent customer service skills are essential as a representative of Weston Nurseries.
- The ability to lift 50 lbs. and to work outdoors in all weather conditions is required.
- Horticultural knowledge and an ability to learn with a focus on Perennials, Vines, Roses and Groundcovers, acquired through either formal training or on the job learning. Familiarity with botanical names and plant maintenance is a plus.
- Effective written and verbal skills are important when interacting with customers and WN personnel. Recognizes the importance of individual team success as well as teamwork across all departments/divisions within the company.
As part of a retail/customer centric business working weekends and possibly an occasional holiday is required.
